We’ve missed you. We’ve missed your voices, your company and the communal spirit that you bring to our temple. But now we’re taking the first step toward reuniting with our congregational family.
The Shaare Emeth Board of Trustees is happy to announce that we will host in-person, outdoor Shabbat services on Friday evenings in our courtyard throughout the summer.
We ask that our guests register to attend in advance, and that we will fill our available seats on a first-come, first-served basis. You can register here.
Have questions about our return to in-person worship? Let us answer them for you:
Our registration form for Friday services will go live at sestl.org/attend-services every Monday at 9 a.m.
If you have a friend or relative who does not use the Internet, they can call into the Shaare Emeth offices (314-569-0010) beginning each Monday and a staff member will fill out the form on their behalf. The form will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday of each week to allow our staff to review submissions.
We will not allow walk-ups to attend services – everyone must complete the form prior to attending.
The form will include basic contact information, questions about the size of your party and an opportunity to share any mobility concerns your party may have for when you visit.
Based on our outdoor seating arrangements, we can allow parties as large as six to attend services.
Our staff will review all submissions and determine attendance based on the time of each submission and our seating capacity. By 5 p.m. on Thursday, we will contact everyone who completed the form at the email address they provided, letting them know if they can attend Friday services.
All attendees will enter through the north entrance of Shaare Emeth. Doors will open at 7 p.m., with services beginning at 7:30 p.m. Upon arrival, an usher will verify your reservation before showing you to your seats. We will not be offering a nosh or any other food service at this time.
In the event of inclement weather (including excessive heat), we will move services indoors to the Stiffman Sanctuary. We will notify all attendees of the move on Friday if the forecast calls for rain or high temperatures.
Yes! Children younger than 16 are welcome, but they must sit with their family throughout services. We will not be providing babysitting services at this time.
If services are outdoors: Congregation Share Emeth continues to follow the CDC and the St. Louis County and City recommendations. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that everyone be masked outdoors, regardless of vaccination status.
If services are moved indoors due to the weather: Based on St. Louis County’s new mask mandate (effective Monday, July 26), masks are required inside the synagogue – regardless of vaccination status.
Those who are not vaccinated are required to wear a mask and observe social distancing at all times when attending services. If you haven’t received a vaccine yet, we strongly encourage you to schedule an appointment if you are medically able.
We understand that everyone will move at their own pace as we transition back to in-person gatherings. We will continue to provide a live stream of our Shabbat evening services at sestl.org/livestream, allowing anyone to participate in worship from the comfort of their own home.
