Thursday, September 21

9 a.m.          Boker Tov Rosh Hashanah Children’s Service (PreK – 2nd grade)

Celebrate the New Year through worship, song and a special presentation of “Moana and the Lost Shofar” at this interactive experience which is most appropriate for preschoolers and young children through grade 2 and their families. Children are then invited to participate in our childcare or High Holiday Experience for PreK-5 while their families take part in our Rosh Hashanah Morning Service. See our main High Holiday page for more information.

9:30 a.m.    Childcare (Infant – 3 years/ PreK*)

10 a.m.         Rosh Hashanah High Holiday Experience opens (PreK – 5th grade)

10:30 a.m.   Rosh Hashanah Service (Sanctuary)

Be inspired by the awe and majesty of our familiar High Holiday liturgy. Service will be led by Rabbi Jim Bennett, Rabbi Jonah Zinn and Cantor Seth Warner, along with our congregational choir. The sermon will be given by Rabbi Jim Bennett.

These services are appropriate for adults and children grades 6 and above. Childcare is available for children too young to sit through the services. See our main High Holiday page for more information.

10:30 a.m.   Rosh Hashanah Service (Kehillah Center)

This is a more informal and contemporary alternative to our traditional Sanctuary worship. This participatory service, appropriate for all ages, will be led by Rabbi Andrea Goldstein and accompanied by Shaare Emeth vocalists and musicians.

New Mishkan HaNefesh prayer books will be provided.

4 p.m.          Tashlich Service at Creve Coeur Park Tremayne Shelter

All are invited to join in the beautiful ritual of Tashlich. Tashlich, which means “casting off,” involves going to a body of water and symbolically casting away our sins. SETYG, our high school youth group, will lead our congregational Tashlich observance this year. The Tremayne Shelter is located inside Sailboat Cove at 13725 Marine Ave, Maryland Heights, MO 63043.

High Holiday Experience

Fast Pass registration for the Rosh Hashanah Experience is now closed. However, please bring your child to the registration desk in the Religious School hallway on Thursday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. We always have room for one more!

This free, creative service for children (PreK – 5th grade) is led by Rabbi Jonah Zinn and features hands-on learning activities and fun with friends, new and old. While parents are in services, their kids will have Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur experiences all their own!

See our main High Holiday page for more information.

Childcare (Infant to 3 years/PreK*)

Childcare is an opportunity for the children to enjoy unstructured play in a safe and loving environment while parents have an opportunity to pray and learn in peace without the responsibility of caring for small children. Childcare is provided by qualified Shirlee Green Preschool teachers.

Cost is $10 per child, per service.

*Our PreK children (those who are 4 years old by Aug. 1, 2017) are eligible for High Holiday Experience during morning services; see previous section for details.

Register Here. Deadline: Friday, September 11

Parking

Ladue Road is closed at the corner of Ballas and Ladue. This road will NOT be open for Rosh Hashanah. After speaking with the Creve Coeur police, we will close the driveway between our North Parking Lot (off New Ballas) and our South Parking Lot (off Ladue road) and utilize them as two separate parking lots. This plan will keep us all safe during the final stages of the Ladue road reconstruction.

  • Parking on the South side of the building (the lot adjacent to Ladue road): We will be opening the south parking lot entrance off Ladue. You will be able to enter off Ladue if you are travelling west. (You will not be able to travel east from Ballas onto Ladue, and when departing you will only be able to travel east on Ladue.)
  • Once the lot is full, you will be directed to offsite parking.
  • If you enter from Ballas, you will park on the North side of the building. When services are over, you must depart onto Ballas. You will not be able to depart onto Ladue.

Our Shaare Emeth traffic volunteers are on the lot to assist with the flow of traffic. Please be courteous and follow directions. We want everyone to be safe in the parking lots.

Onsite Parking

Parking in the Temple parking lot is always first-come, first-served. Arrive early if you wish to assure yourself a spot in the Temple parking lot. Parking is not permitted in the grass or driveways of the Temple grounds, except when directed by the Traffic Committee.

Offsite Parking and Shuttle Buses

Shuttle buses will run before and after services to/from the Ladue entrance to the Temple and offsite parking. This year, for Rosh Hashanah, offsite parking will be located at:

Elks Club at 12481 Ladue Road (1.2 miles west of Temple, on the right as you drive west)

Shuttle runs from offsite parking to/from Shaare Emeth 8 a.m. through the conclusion of services.
