Shalom and welcome to the Shaare Emeth Religious School community. We at Shaare Emeth Religious School believe strongly in our mission to create positive, inclusive, Jewish, learning experiences for all students and their families. We asked questions such as “How do you want your student to be taught about Judaism?”; “What do you want them to learn?”, and then we listened to our family’s answers. In doing so our students feel a sense of community and pride in their Jewish identity.
Highlights of our program include a Pre- Kindergarten, an integrated Hebrew and Judaics curriculum, and innovative opportunities for our students to learn about Judaism through different modalities such as art, music, cooking, media, and writing.
Our PreK- 2nd Grade students attend on Sundays only. Their classroom based learning includes developmentally appropriate themes while exploring their Judaism in a fun, innovative way.
Families with students in grades 3rd-6th enjoy two days of programming each week that include both Judaic and Hebrew learning. They have the opportunity to choose between a Sunday/Tuesday or a Sunday/Wednesday integrated approach to learning. The midweek format takes a break from a structured classroom setting and our students learn Hebrew in smaller groups around tables, participate in a tefillah/ prayer experience and the Judaic curriculum is taught through activities that include art, music, cooking and so much more! Many students learn best by “doing” and that’s exactly the educational approach we provide for our students.
Our 7th grade program meets only on Midweek days and families may still choose between Tuesday or Wednesday.
Our 8th grade students return to Sundays with an option to also be in our Madrichim (assistant teacher) in Training program.
Confirmation I and II is a two-year program for our 9th and 10th grade students. The Confirmation curriculum is taught by our Clergy on Sunday mornings. This program continues to enhance and strengthen our students’ pride in being a part of the Jewish community. Students continually speak about how Confirmation is one of the highlights of their Jewish educational journey at Shaare Emeth.
Many of our students choose to continue their formal Jewish education and participate in a 11th and 12th grade Post Confirmation program, again taught by our clergy.
We know that educating our students is a partnership between the school and home. With you as our partner, we create a positive, innovative, and supportive learning environment for everyone.
Shaare Emeth continues to be at the forefront of Jewish education and we look forward to continuing to provide the BEST program for all students and their families.
We look forward to meeting with you and sharing more details about our PreK- 12th grade Religious School experience. Please do not hesitate to contact our director, Rabbi-Educator, Lori Levine, at 314-692-5361 or [email protected]
