Rosh Hashanah 20s and 30s Dinner

Sunday, September 25
6 p.m. • Shaare Emeth Pavilion

All 20s and 30s are invited to join for this informal, Erev Rosh Hashanah dinner where we’ll get to know one another and welcome the holiday as a community. Dinner will be over in time to attend Shaare Emeth’s Erev Rosh Hashanah service. If you need someone to sit with at services, just let us know!

Erev Rosh Hashanah Service

Childcare will be available from 9:30 a.m. – Noon for ages six months to Pre-K. Cost is $5 per child per day. Pre-registration required.

Rosh Hashanah L’Dor VaDor Service

Shaare Emeth is excited to once again offer a Rosh Hashanah Family Service where your whole family can celebrate together. This one-hour worship experience, filled with music, community blessings, the most important holiday traditions and a meaningful story from our clergy. The L’Dor VaDor experience is most appropriate for families with children ages 6-to-12. Services will be followed by our second annual Rosh Hashanah Family Picnic – see details below.

Rosh Hashanah Picnic

12 Noon • Shaare Emeth Pavilion

Welcome in the New Year with your family, friends, and the whole Shaare Emeth community at our second annual Rosh Hashanah Family Picnic. Reserve a boxed lunch or bring your own so we can share a meal and greet each other. Special Rosh Hashanah themed activities for kids and a sweet dessert provided.

Boxed lunch reservations are now closed. You are welcome to still attend the picnic and enjoy some New Year’s treats with our community without registering. You may also to bring your own lunch to enjoy at the picnic.


Tashlich

Join us at Creve Coeur Park’s Tremayne Shelter for this casual, interactive and meaningful ceremony of Tashlich. Through music, prayers and poetry we will cast out what’s weighing us down and make space for a wonderful new year together.

The easiest way to find the shelter is to enter Creve Coeur Park from Marine Avenue where the Sailboat Cove Entrance is located. The parking lot then is located on your left. The Shelter overlooks the water. Look for the Shaare Emeth Tashlich signs.


High Holiday Food Drive and Tzedakah

The Prophet Isaiah teaches us, “This is the fast I desire…. it is to share your bread with the hungry.”

Shaare Emeth will collect nutritious canned or non-perishable foods during the High Holidays. Supplies will be split between the St. Louis Area Food Bank and the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry.

Most Needed Food Items:

  1. Canned tuna
  2. Hearty Soups
  3. Peanut butter and Jelly
  4. Dried Pasta
  5. Tomato sauce and other tomato products
  6. Canned beans and Veggies
  7. Canned fruit
  8. Canned Beef Stew and Protein-Rich Food

Monetary donations are also welcome in cash or checks payable to “Shaare Emeth Food Drive.” A portion of the monetary donations will be allocated to the organization Mazon, A Jewish Response to Hunger.

Donations can be brought with you when you come for services during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, or Monday-Friday between September 26-October 6.
