Sunday, March 27 at 9:30 a.m. CDT via Zoom
Join us for a Dialogue Meeting with bereaved Palestinian mother, Laila Alsheikh and bereaved Israeli brother, Niv Sarig.
Laila and Niv will share their stories of loss, reconciliation, and hope in an intimate, small group virtual setting. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Parent’s Circle and its transformative efforts towards peace and reconciliation.
Laila Alsheikh lives in Bethlehem in the West Bank. In 2002, her 6 months old son, Qussay, became ill and Israeli soldiers prevented Laila from taking him to the hospital for more than five hours. Qussay soon died from the lack of timely treatment. Laila joined the Parents Circle in 2016. Following her son’s death, she never thought of revenge, but rather has devoted her time and energy to ensuring a better, more peaceful future for her children.
Niv Sarig is from Kfar Sava, Israel. In September 1996, on the eve of the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles, Niv’s brother, Guy Sarig, was killed in action. He was serving as a border patrol officer in Tul-Karm in the West Bank. Guy was shot by a Palestinian sniper while attempting to save the life of fellow Israeli soldier. Niv later joined the Parents Circle – Families Forum, and alongside bereaved Palestinian members, speaks to audiences about his story and his choice of reconciliation as a path towards peace.
