Shaare Emeth Drive-Thru Notary

Congregation Shaare Emeth’s Justice at the Center Initiative Every Voice, Every Vote has been tasked with making voting safe and accessible for all. Consequently, we have amassed a group of congregants who became notaries and will be available to notarize ballots for the November 3rd election in a safe manner.

Schedule

  • Sunday, October 25: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 27: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 29: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 1: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Protocol

The entire process will take place outside the South Lobby entrance. Two tables with one chair at each table will be placed outside for the volunteers. These tables will be 6-feet apart from each other. A portable sink will be placed outside for the notaries to wash their hands after handling the clipboard and ballot. Notaries will be instructed to park in the South Lobby parking and that they are not allowed to enter the building. Notaries will wear masks.

  • Voter will be told to wear a mask, bring their own pen and NOT sign the ballot, but have it filled out. Voter needs to bring an acceptable ID.
  • Voter will drive their car to the South Lobby entrance and remain in the car. Anyone in the car age 3 and over will be wearing a mask.
  • One notary will approach the car with a clipboard.
  • Notary goes to window to witness the voter signing the ballot.
  • Voter would attach their ballot and ID to clipboard.
  • Notary would take ballot for stamp and signature to a designated table outside.
  • Notary will enter information in the notary book.
  • Ballot and ID returned to voter.
  • Voter seals the ballot in front of Notary.
  • Notary will then wipe down clipboard with Lysol wipes to get ready for the next person.
  • Notary will wash hands as well with portable sink that is placed outside.

If someone is unable to get to Temple from our Congregational Community and needs their ballot notarized, volunteer notary will go to the home and the whole procedure will occur outside the house with masks and staying 6-feet apart using the same procedure as above.
