Today, we, the clergy and Board of Trustees of Congregation Shaare Emeth, are writing to reaffirm our commitment as a pro-choice congregation.
Our commitment to reproductive freedom for all people is based on thousands of years of Jewish teachings. We stand on the shoulders of generations of Jewish leaders who have fought for the right for individuals to make decisions about their own reproductive healthcare. This includes the right to terminate a pregnancy.
With the news of the leaked documents from the Supreme Court (itself a disturbing act), we are deeply concerned for the mental, emotional, and physical health of those who will be affected by any further limitation of reproductive rights. While we do not know what the future will hold, we promise that we will do all we can to continue the fight for reproductive freedoms in our state and in our nation.
• If you are feeling angry, anxious, or scared, we are here for you. •
• If you are a medical professional who provides reproductive healthcare, we stand with you. •
• If you want to take action to protect our religious freedom and right to choose, we invite you to join with us in the following ways:
Join with NCJW on Wednesday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m. for a panel discussion featuring Rabbi Goldstein:
