Update on HB 575 Legislation

Posted on April 10, 2019 by Tori Luecking

On April 8, the Missouri House passed HB 575 and sent it to the Senate. A last minute amendment was added to this bill and with this amendment, the intent behind the bill is to recklessly expand the presence of dangerous firearms into the education space of our children, youth and young adults throughout this state.

To accomplish this, HB575:
– Forces public colleges and universities to allow guns to be carried on campus.
– Allows guns to be carried on the campus of private colleges and universities, unless the college or university posts (via signage) the campus as being off limits to carrying concealed firearms.
– Allows guns to be carried on the campus of private secondary or elementary schools, unless the school posts (via signage) the campus as being off limits to carrying concealed firearms.

Use this link to let your State Senator know you oppose HB 575.  Spread the word to others you know and encourage them also to email their Senators.
