Yom HaZikaron & Yom HaAtzmaut

Yom HaZikaron, Israel Memorial Day, was established by the Israeli Knesset as a Memorial Day for soldiers who lost their lives fighting in the Israeli War of Independence and in other, subsequent battles.

Yom HaAtzmaut, Israeli Independence Day and the day after Yom HaZikaron, marks the establishment of the modern state of Israel in 1948. Many consider Yom HaZikaron and Yom HaAtzmaut new additions to the Jewish holiday calendar, and the days are celebrated by Jewish people worldwide.
