We have prepared a diverse array of learning opportunities for the coming year, and we hope that you will join us for study and community.

Congregation Shaare Emeth presents JStreet President Jeremy Ben Ami and Rabbi Jim Bennett for a discussion followed by light refreshments. Jeremy Ben-Ami is the founder and President of J Street which is changing the U.S. political dynamic around Israel by mobilizing broad support for a two-state solution.

A Journey into the Mysterious Land of Talmud

Rabbi Jim Bennett will lead us on a visit through the “Land of Talmud,” exploring its geography and terrain, meeting some of its people and tasting some of its sweet and bitter cuisine. Together, we will uncover some of the magic that has drawn generations of Jews to embark upon a journey of religious, practical and ethical Jewish discovery in the pages of this ancient, yet living rabbinic text.

Love at the Center: An Exploration of Jewish Prayer, Mindfulness & Our Capacity to Love

Rabbi Andrea Goldstein will lead this class about how prayer is a spiritual practice designed to enhance the human capacity to love. Focusing on the Shema and its surrounding blessings, this class will explore liturgical expressions of love and offer guidance in meditation practices which deepen our capacity to receive and extend love.

Presented by the Jewish Mindfulness Center of St. Louis at Shaare Emeth

Cost: $40 for Shaare Emeth members, $55 for nonmembers
