7th Grade Program

7th Grade 2.0 Program:

Our 7th graders are at a critical moment of transition, taking on the responsibility of becoming bar or bat mitzvah, and developmentally are questioning who they are and who they want to be in the world. Our program strives to honor where they are by asking big Jewish questions and engaging learners in a dialogue about what it means to them to be a Jew in the world. They also have regular opportunities to work with younger students in our Religious School as role models and develop their own budding leadership skills. Learners also have the opportunity to be together with their peers and deepen their relationships to one another.

In the 2019-2020 school year, our vision for the 7th Grade Program is to offer multiple tracks for learning that students can opt into based on scheduling, interest, and learning needs. We hope that by offering choice, our 7th graders will feel invested in their learning and that their time here is meaningful.

  • For the 7th grade program, we require each student to enroll in at least 1 of the offered tracks.
  • To make the most out of this year, experience deeper connections, and cultivate new skills and passions, we hope students will consider signing up for 2 or 3 of the tracks. One tuition covers all 3 tracks for each participant!
  • We know that these are brand new experiences and teens love to change their minds! If your student is not successful in their first choice of program, they have the opportunity, after a conversation with me, to switch into a different track once during the school year.

We believe this model allows us to best meet our goals of helping our learners gain a strong sense of who they are as Jews, understand why they love being Jewish, and find ways to plug into Jewish community as they grow.
