Sadie & Sidney S. Cohen Music Fund (03)

Distribution is to be used to enrich the musical fabric of the Congregation through special programs of Jewish music throughout the year.  Funds are used to hire musicians and chorus people for events, such as “Jewish Music Month” or to augment “special Sabbaths.”

Sam and Goldye Rosen Music Fund (65)

The purpose of this fund is to fund, in whole or part, the cost of special music events at the Temple (such as Cantorial concerts), which are not part of the annual operating budget of the Temple.

Albert & Ruth Kopolow Beautification Fund (40)

This fund can be used for beautifying the grounds with flowers and plants or for bema flowers.

Building Maintenance Fund (87)

This fund receives money in building maintenance fund pledges from current and new members and through contributions to the fund in the form of tributes.

Dorthy Levitt/Birdie Furstenberg Support Staff Pension Fund (25)

This fund has been established to support and supplement the congregation’s pension fund for office staff.

Isadore & Edith Bonnett Kowarsky Technology Endowment Fund (54)

The purpose of the fund is to allow Congregation Shaare Emeth the opportunity to improve and to purchase technology needs to the Temple, schools or camp.

Kushkin Landscaping Fund (09)

Distribution from this fund may be used for equipment such as mowers, trimmers, sprayers may be purchased by this fund.

Michael Matlof Fund for Homebound Services (58)

The fund will enable members of the congregation who are unable to attend services to hear an entire service, as it is happening, over the telephone. This fund will also provide the funds for the temples streaming.

Operations Enhancement Fund (69)

This fund has been established to help provide additional monies to supplement the operating budget of the Temple each year.

Shaare the Vision

The purpose of this fund is to continue to be a leading Reform synagogue by creating an accessible, engaging, nurturing, practical and welcoming environment that provides space for our present needs and allows for growth in the future.

Shirley Solomon Play Yard Fund (06)

Distribution from the fund is to be used for purchase, replacement or maintenance of playground equipment.

Simons Family Equal Access Fund (16)

This fund will be used to assist those with disabilities to become active participants in all Temple activities.  The needs of the hearing impaired are to be given priority, although the fund may be used to help all of our disabled participants.

Temple Endowment Fund (17)

The goal of this fund is $1,000,000.  Earnings from the fund are to be used for operations and to supplement the operating funds generated by dues from members.

Werner Art Fund (55)

This fund will be a restricted fund to offset art expenditures in the operating budget.

Alan Greenberg Early Childhood Programming Fund (71)

The purpose of the fund will provide funding for early childhood programming.  These programs will be supervised by the preschool director.  Programs can include the Religious School PreKg-2nd grade as well as children in the Shirlee Green Preschool.

Anthony B. Lake Scholarship Fund

The purpose of the fund is to aid families in the Preschool who are in need of financial help.  A Preschool Scholarship Committee has been formed consisting of Preschool Director, Religious School Director and Preschool Board President to supervise the disbursements.

Audrey Montague Preschool Endowment Fund (34)

This fund shall be used for the benefit of Shaare Emeth’s Preschool.  The use of these funds shall be selected by the Director with the approval of the Preschool board.

Kathy & Marty Zigler Preschool Fund for the Enrichment of Pre-School Teachers (90)

The purpose of the fund will be used to provide pre-school teacher education and enrichment. If the available funds exceed the amount required for teacher education and enrichment, the excess available funds may be used for additional non-budgeted items for the preschool.

Lisha Gayle Preschool Enrichment Fund (60)

The fund is to be used for children’s or teachers’ enrichment or for opportunities to enrich the children’s preschool experience by use of specialists, special programming, etc.

Marshall C. Weisman Fund for Preschool Special Needs Children (85)

The purpose of the fund is to be used to enable the preschool to achieve its goal of inclusion of special needs children in the preschool program to the extent that is best for the child.

Nancy Levin Preschool Fund (21)

This fund is to be made available to the Director of the Preschool for any needs or purposes of the school as may be deemed appropriate.

Shirlee Green Preschool Fund (47)

This fund is to be used at the discretion of the Temple Board for Preschool programs.  The principal amount of the endowment may also be applied to the physical expansion of the Preschool with the Temple Board’s approval.

Al & Eva Fleischer Healing Fund (74)

The purpose of this fund is to fund the leader for the healing service.  Also the distribution is available to the caring committee.

Brockman-Siegelman Gemilut Hasadim Fund (53)

This fund will provide “Basic Jewish Dignity” to those members at risk who are not currently being served because of unavailable funding.  For example, the fund may be used to provide:  clothing to maintain self-respect; necessary items to celebrate holidays and life cycle events; the sustenance that allows them to sustain life; opportunities for members to attend congregational dinners.  Others may receive aid from this fund:  to participate in school activities, to help cover school supply costs and participation fees, and to help provide appropriate clothing when needed.

Donna Meyers Children’s Nook Fund(91)

The purpose of the fund is to establish and maintain the Donna Meyers Children’s Nook in the Rubin Library at the Temple.

Dr. Stanley B. Lyss Adult Education Fund (12)

The distribution will be used for education purposes within the congregation.

Elsie & Fred Deutsch Lectureship (24)

This fund is to be used to sponsor scholar-in-residence lectures at the discretion of the Senior Rabbi, the Adult Education Committee and the Deutsch family.

Estelle & Bernard Schwartzman Lectureship Fund (33)

This fund will be used to sponsor a lectureship each year at the Congregation.

Harvey & Leanne Schneider Interfaith Forum Fund (76)

The purpose of this fund is to establish and support meaningful programs and experiences for members of Congregation Shaare Emeth and the larger Jewish community about, and in relationship with people of other faiths through education and engagement.

Ida & Harris Kramer Social Action Fund (32)

This fund will be used to supplement the social action activities of the congregation and to contribute in Shaare Emeth’s name to worthy causes.

Jeffrey B. Stiffman Lecture (92)

This fund, established in May, 2015 by Congregation Shaare Emeth, in honor of Rabbi Jeffrey B. Stiffman’s 50th anniversary of ordination as a rabbi, will provide for an annual adult education lecture, speaker, program or event to further the knowledge and commitment of the congregation in areas such as Jewish current events, Israel and Diaspora relations, Interfaith relations or other topics to be determined in consultation with Rabbi Stiffman. The Rabbis, Cantor and Educational staff will work with Rabbi Stiffman each year to determine a speaker reflecting his interests and commitments and will plan the annual “Rabbi Jeffrey B. Stiffman Lecture.”

Jeffrey B. Stiffman Rabbinic Chair Endowment Fund (30)

This fund has been established by Shaare Emeth in honor of Rabbi Jeffrey Stiffman’s completion of twenty years of dedicated service. This endowment will help to adequately compensate our Rabbi and his successors and will help reduce our annual deficits and allow us to continue to attract top Rabbinic leadership to Shaare Emeth.  It will be a separate and permanent endowment fund.  All contributions and donations will be used to build the principal. Only the earnings derived from the fund’s assets will be used. Rabbi Jeffrey Stiffman will receive a percentage of the income to be used at his discretion for educational, charitable or other purposes.  The balance of the earnings of the fund will be used to finance the rabbinic operations of the Temple.

Library Fund

The purpose of this fund is to provide support for purchases for the Hyman A. Rubin Library and Learning Center at Congregation Shaare Emeth.

Mann Family Hunger Fund (45)

This fund is to be used to support organizations which primarily engage in the fight against hunger, directly or indirectly, and which qualify under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code for individuals, PROVIDED THE CONGREGATION CAN DO SO WITHOUT ADVERSE TAX CONSEQUENCES.

Max & Bernice Babchick Jewish Family Involvement Fund (42)

The distribution from the fund is to be used to allow families, who could not otherwise afford to do so, to participate in the family life activities of Shaare Emeth Congregation.

Simons Family Equal Access Fund (16)

William Seltzer Older Adult Fund (26)

This fund was established by the family to aid the senior citizen programs of the Congregation. The distribution may be used to fund activities of the Shaare Emeth Seniors Group, transportation for seniors to any Temple function, and/or to subsidize meals for seniors.

Harry & Lucille Midows Religious School Fund (86)

This fund will enhance the operation of the Religious School.  Funds may be utilized for staff compensation, equipment, supplies, and scholarships, as well as other purposes for the Religious School.

Micah Davis Fund (23)

This fund is to be used to provide “treats” for the children of the Congregation at major holidays.  In addition, prayer books for beginning Hebrew School students are to be funded by this fund.

Religious School Fund (43)

This fund will enable the Religious School to enhance the programs, services and equipment of the Religious School

Steven Morgan Ferman Memorial Fund for Gifted Education (15)

This fund is to be used to provide for the education and support of gifted children.

Estelle & Ed Fischer Children’s Scholarship Fund (70)

The purpose of this fund is to be used to help children to participate in educational programs.

Eunice B. Mann Jewish Education Fund (52)

Distribution from this fund is to be used or applied for Sunday school charges, Hebrew school charges, Bar or Bat Mitzvah preparations, charges for attending a Jewish summer camp, or other similar purposed.  The financial needs of the parents shall be the guideline for award.

Frank & Mary Siteman Education Fund (19)

This fund is for scholarships for religious school programs.  It can also be used to supplement the youth group activities if needed.

Ida Stack Scholarship Fund (48)

This fund is to be used to provide an annual award to the Hebrew school student who has shown the most effort in his or her Hebrew studies.  Additional money may be used for Religious School scholarships.

Dr. Seymour & Rose Brown College Fund (61)

This fund is to be used to help enhance the Jewish identity, knowledge and culture of our college youth via “care packages” and other projects during the year.

Sam & Libby Cohen Youth Leadership Fund (28)

This fund is to be used to support participation in regional and national events sponsored by NFTY’s MO. Valley Region.

Todd Jason Kronemer Youth Activities Fund (05)

This fund is to provide: (l) subsidy for youth group participation in regional activities (2) scholarship aid to Temple youth for Jewish camping and (3) subsidy for Temple youth participating in youth programs in Israel.

Robert J. Siegel SETYG Youth Programming Fund (57)

This fund is to provide junior and senior youth group students the opportunity to participate in SETYG programs, NFTY conclaves and regional and national events and programs, and to benefit junior youth group and senior youth group-age students.

Sam & Libby Cohen Youth Leadership Fund (28)

Distribution is to be used to support participation in regional and national events sponsored by NFTY’s MO. Valley Region.

Todd Jason Kronemer Youth Activities Fund (05)

This fund is to provide: (l) subsidy for youth group participation in regional activities (2) scholarship aid to Temple youth for Jewish camping and (3) subsidy for Temple youth participating in youth programs in Israel.

Essman-Schaeffer Camp Scholarship Fund (10)

This fund was established by Alyn and Marlyn Essman to be used for scholarship aid to Shaare Emeth youth traveling to and/or studying in Israel. The fund is to provide scholarships to children of members of the Congregation to attend camps conducted by the Congregation.  It can also be used to send members of the Congregation to attend camps sponsored by NFTY.

Goldberg Camp Scholarship Fund (49)

This fund is to be used to provide camp scholarships to our Religious School students.

Jacquelyn Wiesman Artstein Camp Scholarship Fund (13)

Interest and donations are to be used as scholarship for students attending Shaare Emeth camp programs.  Scholarships will be offered on determination of need and will be available to member families of Congregation Shaare Emeth.

Lisa’s Star (75)

This fund is to be used to provide camp scholarships to our members’ children.

Chused Israel Experience Fund (35)

Distribution from the fund is to be used for aiding students to learn and enjoy an experience in Israel.  Students of High School age or High School graduates who have not started their college careers are eligible to receive assistance from this program.

Joseph & Lillian Beil Israel Fund (59)

The purpose of the fund is to help “match” the contributions to the “Passport to Israel” program which we co-sponsor with the Jewish Federation.

Milton & Henrietta Kushkin Education Fund (31)

This fund was established for matching grants for families of those students in Shaare Emeth’s Religious School participating in the “Passport to Israel” program co-sponsored by the Congregation and administered by the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, for teacher in-service training, and general educational enhancement and guest lecturers in the field of Jewish education.

Sam I. Golman Israel Experience Fund (56)

The distribution from the fund will be used for young people to travel to Israel under the auspices of the Passport to Israel Matching Gift Program with the Jewish Federation and the Temple.
