Fred and Elsie Deutsch Scholar-in-Residence

The Fred and Elsie Deutsch Scholar-in-Residence program allows various educators to bring their knowledge and insight on topics such as Judaism, Israel, Social Justice, and more, to our Congregation.

The Scholar-in-Residence Weekends are made possible through the Fred and Elise Deutsch Endowment Fund. The Congregation would also like to thank Roberta and Jim Deutsch, Judy and Larry Deutsch and their families for their continuous generous support for the Scholar-in-Residence Weekend.

A Musical Shabbat with Rabbi Larry Milder

We look forward to welcoming Rabbi Larry Milder of Congregation Beth Emek in Pleasanton, California to our Friday night Shabbat service.

Larry Milder is a flatpicking, singing rabbi with a knack for off-beat Jewish tunes. His combination of wry wit and exceptional guitar playing have earned him a national following among fans of new Jewish music. His popular songs “Wherever You Go (There’s Always Someone Jewish)” and “Stars in the Sky” are sung in youth groups and summer camps throughout the country.

Larry’s songs are featured in The Complete Shireinu, and his recordings have appeared on albums from Craig Taubman, NFTY, URJ Biennial anthologies, PJ Library, CAJE, and the American Jewish Song Festival.

Whether performing or leading worship, Larry’s warmth, humor and clever songwriting bring people together with a song and a smile.
